Drop everything!

Cheryl Ciamarra of Montgomery, Alabama sent this thoughtful suggestion in response to the May article on teachable moments. "My son’s teacher has a program called DEAR, Drop Everything and Read! Last summer things occasionally got hectic with four children under 10 in the house, so when attitudes of love and forgiveness were missing I would call ‘DEAP!’, which stands for Drop Everything and Pray. We would all stop where we were, get on our knees, ask for God’s grace, and take turns asking forgiveness of each other and pray for more love in our home. It really worked great and instantly puts the petty arguments and sibling fighting into perspective.

"I was surprised once when I was worn out or cross and my 3-year-old asked, ‘Mom, would it be a good time to drop everything and pray?’ The message must be sinking in!"
